Healing Pain with the Power of Reiki

reiki-3735438_960_720

About three months ago, my life partner Terri was suffering from intense lower back pain. She’d injured herself while working at her job. She works in a kitchen, where she continually lifts economy-sized cans of food.
m

Terri’s pain was incredibly severe. She felt like her back was locking up. I was concerned. If she didn’t act soon, her back issues might worsen, raising the risk for further injury. We both knew it was time to utilize Reiki to promote healing.

The Journey to Healing

m

I’m so grateful that I’m a Reiki healer. It’s awesome and amazing that through my hands I can facilitate healing for others.
m

On a Monday evening, I had Terri sit on a cushioned chair in our living room. To create a more relaxed atmosphere, I dimmed the lights and turned on calming music, infused with water sounds.m
p

Terri was ready to receive the life energy flowing from my hands. Neither of us harbored any fears or concerns about the process: we felt only hopefulness and faith. We knew that the healing would come.

m
As the scent of lemongrass filled the air, I placed my hands on her shoulders. I allowed myself to focus completely on Terri. I put my other thoughts aside. And then I initated the opening prayer.

m

Opening Prayer

m

For me, a Reiki session begins with a prayer to help connect me with God and with the power of life energy that’s available to us for love, comfort, and healing. This is what I said:
m

I call on the universal power and energy of Reiki that’s in and around us, at all times. I ask that its healing energy go exactly where it’s needed most for Terri’s healing, with unconditional love and support.

m

Let the healing light and energy that is a part of me, touch her back and bring relief; let it flow from me to her, and spread throughout her body.

m

I pray that Terri’s sense of knowing be strengthened and that any blocks in her connection to God’s love be removed.

m

I call on the energy of those who have practiced Reiki in the past, and those who practice it now, to assist me. I ask you, God creator of the universe and great healer, to bless me and bless me in my healing work.

m

The Healing

m

The first session lasted about thirty minutes. During this time, Terri fell asleep. (This sometimes happens when we receive Reiki.) Using my intuition, I worked on various areas of her body, including the major chakras.

m
Following the initial session, Terri confirmed that her pain had lessened. Evening though it came back the next moring, it was not as bad as it had been the previous day.
m

Each night, after arriving home from work, we would begin the healing ritual again. After each Reiki session, I would also massage certain pressure points on her back and feet.
m

With every day that passed, Terri’s pain continued to diminish. After nine sessions, at around 30 minutes each, she confidently declared that her pain was gone.
m

To this day, she has not experienced any intense back pain.
m

We are both grateful for Reiki, this gift from God. That we can heal one another through our hands is an amazing miracle!

Strengthening Our Intuition with Oracle Cards

visions

By Sarah Atwell

Working with oracle messenger cards is one of my favorite ways to strengthen my intuition.
p

Life is like the seasons—full of cycles and changes. The cards help us navigate. We go through times of renewal and fresh starts because it’s time to move forward. Sometimes, we must leave something behind because it’s no longer working for us.

p
As we undergo these cycles of change, we can let go of old habits, find different kinds of work, or step out of comfort zones and try something new. Indeed, life is ever-changing. It’s an exciting and unpredictable adventure; a maze of possible choices and unknown outcomes. Sometimes when I feel like I’m a bit lost, I go to oracle cards for guidance. They have helped me so much, and I feel they may help you, too.

My Magical Experience

p
Over the years, my work with the oracles has often focused on dreams and creativity.

p
For example, I’ve received much guidance about the role of art in my life. About a year ago, The Green Lady card from one of my favorite decks, The Faeries’ Oracle, kept coming up in readings. She encouraged me to grow my talents and courageously embrace my innate magic. I’d also get Penelope the Dreamweaver card quite often, who of course is connected with magical dreams and visions. She seemed to be telling me to step out of the mundane and try new things that would inspire and renew me.

During this time, I also had a dream that I was drawing lots of pictures so I could make my own coloring book or cards.

p
All these messages pointed to my new direction. I decided I was going to get busy and start drawing again. (It had been years since I had done any drawing.)

p
Now, a year later, I’m happy to say my first coloring book will soon be published. (If you subscribe to my blog at sarathefairy.com you will receive a free sample to download.)

Oracles and the Intuitive Mind

p
How do oracle cards work?

p
The oracles work as an extension of what we already know in our subconscious mind, which is where our intuition comes from.

pp
The cards can be considered the physical representation of our internal intuition. When we use the oracles, we’re strengthening the connections between our subconscious mind, our intuition, and the physical world.

p
The images on the cards bring clarity to any hidden feelings, emotions or desires we may have.

p
As we shuffle them and focus on our question, we’re setting an intention and releasing our energy into the cards. This is what gives them power.

Your Choice and Your Power
p

There are many varieties of oracle cards. Some have themes like goddess, angels, animals or faeries.

p
One of my favorite sets is Oracle of Visions. The images in this deck are not only colorful and pretty but also very straightforward, making it easier to understand their meaning.

p
The other deck I love is The Faeries’ Oracle, as previously mentioned. Using this deck is one of my favorite ways to connect with the faeries and learn what they have to share.

p
If you decide to work with the oracles, find some that speak to you. Remember: it’s not the cards in themselves that have the power—it’s your energy and your intention that give them the power to work within you.

How I Healed Myself with Kundalini Yoga

dominik-wycislo-122568

Our body communicates with us.

Six years ago, I was suffering from persistent stomach cramps.

I didn’t want to visit the doctor because I didn’t have health insurance and I was afraid of the cost. I wanted to figure things out on my own.

At first, I started drinking more water and I changed my eating habits. (I was physically active already, so I knew it wasn’t that I needed more exercise.) Yet, the cramps continued.

So, I started thinking about yoga, because I knew it was supposed to be good for the body and mind. I got into research mode; in doing so, I discovered Kundalini Yoga and decided to give it a try.

It was through Kundalini Yoga that I learned about energetic explanations for physical issues. Through Kundalini, I learned about chakras and discovered they’re one of the ways our body communicates with us.

Kundalini Yoga is different than other types of yoga because it’s less focused on alignment and more focused on the internal energy, circulation, and glandular secretions. It incorporates meditation, breathwork, and mantra into the sets. The mantras can be used for protection, peace, courage, and more.

Kundalini is a type of energy that’s with us from the time we are born. It’s our life force, known by Reiki practitioners as Ki, and is located at the base of the spine (root chakra).

When this Kundalini energy is dormant, it’s coiled up tight like a spring; as it wakes up and uncoils, our chakras are cleaned and strengthened.

There are seven main chakras located up and down the spine. Chakras are energy centers that regulate specific functions in the body. Once I knew about them and what they do, I was able to figure out the root cause of my cramps.

The root cause was an imbalance in my solar plexus chakra (located in the stomach area). This chakra distributes life force energy throughout the body; it’s our power center. It helps us express will, enthusiasm, and creativity, so we can make and do.

If this center is weak or blocked, there will be unusual tiredness and nervousness, along with stomach and intestinal problems, as well as liver and kidney problems.

My body was indeed trying to tell me something.

My solar plexus was letting me know that things needed to change.

When I made the decision to use yoga as a way to heal my stomach cramps, I consistently practiced two routines. First, I worked with Kundalini postures and mantras that focused on detoxing and destressing, as well as those that dealt with the solar plexus. Secondly, I read a lot about chakras and their functions, basically making a conscious effort to see them as healthy and balanced.

I continued these practices for several months, practicing at least four times a week, and it worked. My stomach pain was healed.

I’m happy to say the stomach cramps have never returned. My solar plexus is healthy and I plan to keep it that way.

I believe practicing Kundalini Yoga and learning about our chakras is an easy way to bring healing into our lives.
